Filters
The Filters menu is used to apply
image effects, as well as basic adjustments such as brightness
and contrast, color hue, and sharpness.
Caricature
Studio 4.0 supports Photoshop ® compatible plugins
with the .8BF file extention. A variety of filters are included to
create lots of interesting color, rendering and border effects. For
example, apply the Sepia filter to give your image the look and
feel of an old photograph. Use the Comic filters to apply
different textures. To explore the possibilities, look for the
Filters menu on the toolbar.
You can also use your own filters! There are literally thousands of plugins available on
the web, with which you can create an endless variety of image
effects. Many are free! Search online for "Photoshop
Plugins."
To upload your own filters
to Caricature Studio:
- Search for "Photoshop
compatible plugins" with the .8BF
extention.
- Download to your desktop.
- From the File menu
in Caricature Studio, select Load Filter
Plug-ins.
- Browse to the directory containing
your plugins and select Load.
- Restart Caricature Studio. Your
plugin(s) will now appear under the Filter
menu.
Below are examples of included
filters.
Please
note that any filters applied will only apply to the active
selected layer. For instance, if you add clip art and then
choose the Pop Art filter, only the clip art will be affected by
the filter. You can select the background using the arrow selection
if desired and apply filters there as well.
To apply filters to
all layers of your image, you must first save the
image, then reopen it. Add all of the desired clipart. Then, save
your image with a differrent file name so that the original image
is not overwritten. Go to File > Save As. If
your file is called "me.jpg" for instance, save the file as
"me2.jpg." Next, go to File > Open and open
"me2.jpg." Apply any desired filters.
You may
wish to add talk bubbles and text after filters are applied.
Otherwise, the text may not be clear depending on the filter
used.
